Firefighter/Grizzlies Emergency Goaltender Joins Bill Riley

He not only played, but had a strong performance, making seven saves while stopping every shot he saw.

The Utah Grizzlies only had one goalie going into last Saturday’s game, and signed an emergency guy just in case.

The just-in-case happened when the Grizzlies’ real backup got hurt, leaving the ice to receive stitches after being struck by a puck.  The next goalie is used to emergency situations, but not on the ice. Taylorsville firefighter Jay Stevens, 43, was called to the ice.  He not only played, but had a strong performance, making seven saves while stopping every shot he saw.
