Utah and BYU lose out on 4 star prospect

4 star wide receiver form Orem high school, Puka Nacua committed to the USC Trojans last night. Puka (class of 2019) is the brother of current Utes wide receiver Samson Nacua. Puka Nacua is 6’2″ and 180lbs of play making ability. He held offers from some major programs like USC, UCLA, Utah, BYU and Washington. Puka made the announcement last night that he would leave the state after high school to play football for USC.

Sometimes having family at a school that’s just down the road from where you grew up can be a negative for recruits. Maybe Puka and Samson wanted to avoid having to compete for starting spots with each other. Maybe Puka just wanted a change of scenery. Either way it’s tough to blame a kid who chooses to play football for a powerhouse like USC that also has perfect weather year round. The Utes and Cougars bother pushed hard to land this kid but in the end the lure of the Trojans was too much to pass up.
