The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. Initially, the band started as a punk-influenced group but evolved into a more mainstream alternative rock sound over the years. The core members of the band are Johnny Rzeznik (lead vocals, guitar) and Robby Takac (bass, vocals).
The band gained significant fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s, largely due to the success of their hit singles “Iris” and “Slide,” both from the album Dizzy Up the Girl (1998). “Iris,” in particular, became a defining track for the band, topping charts and remaining a staple of pop culture.
