Utah football makes late addition to 2018 recruiting class

Bernard “Beeno” Shirmer committed to the Utes last week as a part of their 2018 recruiting class. The 6’6″ 290lb offensive tackle from Mt San Antonio junior college took an official recruiting trip to USC right before committing to the Utes. The last time the Utes picked up an offensive linemen this late in the recruiting process was in 2011 with Miles Mason. Mason ended up starting the season opener and became a very solid player. The Utes also stole an offensive tackle away form USC in 2010 with John Cullen. Cullen started every game at offensive tackle that year and eventually became an all conference player. The Utes don’t need Beeno to start at the moment but he clearly has the talent to play at this level if USC wanted him this late in the recruiting process.
