The Utah Jazz hosted their first pre-draft workout ahead fo the 2018 NBA draft, coming up on June 21st. Donte DiVincenzo from Villanova, Wenyen Gabriel from Kentucky, Jalen McDaniels from San Diego State, Devon Hall from Virginia, Brian Bowen from South Carolina, and Elijah Bryant from BYU participated in what VP of Player Personnel called an impressive first workout.
DiVincenzo is the most likely draft pick of the group after his breakout performance for Nova in the National Championship game, though Hall could see his name selected if he is to perform well in draft workouts and at the combine.
Bowen was originally committed to Louisville, but his family was discovered to have received payments for his commitment to Louisville, and sat out all of his freshman season after transferring to South Carolina. He was the 14th highest rated recruit, and a five star prospect, and may have been a first round pick had he been available to play for the Cardinals.
Perrin said of the Jazz first round selection at 21 he was encouraged by the draft position. He felt there was a tier of the top 10 players in the draft, then a second grouping of 5, then a much larger group of potentially 25 players that could be available at 21 for the Jazz to select from.
Only Bryant and Hall of the group were available to talk to the media after the workout as both have hired agents, and will not be returning to college basketball. The other four are protecting their college eligibility by not hiring an agent.
