Ute football scrimmage report form Saturday

The Utes had an open scrimmage on Saturday in front of a few hundred fans. The reps were evenly split between starters and backups although many of the proven starters have been held out for the majority of spring. Utah’s defense clearly won the day. The defensive line at Utah may be the best to ever play at Utah. Manny Bowen made every possible tackle and looks like an all-PAC12 player already. Utah’s secondary is elite and left almost no one open downfield for the entire scrimmage. The biggest play on offense came from Solomon Enis on a slant route with the 2nd unit. Enis broke a tackle and ran down the sideline for an extra gain of almost 20 yards. There was sloppiness with the backup offense overall though. The offensive line had several guys playing different positions including Braeden Daniels who looked great at right guard after playing left tackle a year ago. Kyle Whittingham said Daniels could still go back to tackle but he looks to be a natural at the guard position at the moment.
