After losing two straight games in the NBA Finals.  The #1 team in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors found themselves down 2-1 in the best of 7 series in the NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers.  That is unfamiliar territory for first year Head Coach Steve Kerr and his squad.  A simple win in Cleveland on Thursday night would put all the speculation of a collapse to rest.  The Western Conference Champions knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-82.  Most of the criticism was towards the reigning MVP Stephen Curry and his ability to put his stamp on this series.  After struggling in the game 2 loss and the first half of game 3, before turning on the jets and shooting lights out in the second half.  The question was, is Steph Curry going to pick up where he left off in game 3 or would he go back to struggling like game 2?  Curry was the “Co-leader” in scoring with Andre Iguodala with 22 points apiece.  Curry went 8-17 from the field including 4-7 from downtown.  I would say that is the normal Steph Curry that won his first ever Most Valuable Player award.  The other storyline was Steve Kerr “lying” to media at shoot around when asked if Andrew Bogut would start in game 4.  Kerr answered “No change to the starting lineup” but when the starters were introduced, Andrew Bogut’s name was not called.  It was Andre Iguodala.  AI started every single game he played in career before he signed with Golden State this past offseason.  Kerr asked him to take the Sixth Man role and Iguodala wasn’t too thrilled at first but then embraced it.  He also embraced his first start of the entire season, shooting 8-15 from the field, including 4 of 9 from downtown.  AI isn’t that great of a long range shooter, so to have him make 4 3’s in the Finals is very impressive.

The Cavs were led by Timofey Mozgov with 28 points.  That’s right Timofey Mozgov with 28 points.  Thought you would never see that?  I didn’t either.  Especially when LeBron James scored 44, 39 and 40 points in the first 3 games of the Finals.  LeBron finished with 20 points in Game 4.

The Cavs seemed really tired and exhausted.  I don’t blame them.  They only play 7 guys.  But in the Finals, that can’t happen.  I do expect LeBron James to score 30+ in Game 5 on Sunday.

Prediction:

Warriors will win Game 5.  Cavs will win Game 6 and the Warriors will win their first NBA Title since 1975 with a Game 7 win on Friday, June 19th.

You can listen to every second of Game 5 of the NBA Finals beginning with pregame coverage at 5pm with tipoff at 6pm on Utah’s Home of the NBA Finals, ESPN 700.
