At the charity stripe with the game on the line, Donovan Mitchell stepped up and thought he made the first free throw. He didn’t. The Jazz needed him to miss the second. He made it. Opportunity lost.

Oklahoma City survived Utah’s late rally from down nine with 3:35 to go, winning 107-106 at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Mitchell accepted the blame.
Asked Donovan in the lockerroom why he went with the tomahawk. He said he wouldn’t have gotten same elevation if he went with two hands. Also said he didn’t think Westbrook would contest for fear of sixth foul.

Quin Snyder explained the Jazz’s approach after Mitchell missed the front end.
Paul George poured 22 of his 43 total points in the third quarter to give OKC a 93-81 lead heading into the fourth.
The Thunder grabbed its second win against the divisional foes in as many weeks. These two next meet on February 22 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
