GAME NOTES via Utah Athletics
The Utah football program will host the No. 20/19 USC Trojans on Saturday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium, in what will be the season opener for the Utes. USC enters the game with wins over Arizona State (Nov. 7) and Arizona (Nov. 14). The Utes are eager to take the field after having their first two games canceled, and have maintained focus in shifting from previously scheduled opponents to their Pac-12 South Division rivals from Los Angeles. The Utes and Trojans have combined to claim 4 of the last 5 South Division titles, with the two sharing the 2015 crown, USC winning it in 2017 and Utah winning it in 2018 & ’19.
Fans can stay connected to the game in the lead-up and on Saturday night through a variety of engagement opportunities on UtahUtes.com and the Utah Athletics and Utah Football social media channels.

UNIFORMS WILL DISPLAY SOCIAL JUSTICE MESSAGING
The Utes’ uniforms Saturday night will feature messaging chosen by the team’s student-athlete leadership council to promote unity around social justice issues. A patch on the front of each student-athlete’s jersey and the name plate on his back will display one of seven words identified by the leadership council, and the back of the helmet will contain either “It Takes All of Us” or “United for Change.” To read quotes from the players and see photos of the uniforms click here.
Utah Athletics will recognize supporters with fan cutouts in the north end zone of Rice-Eccles Stadium. The 400 fan cutouts recognize some of the faces of the 336 who made donations to the #ReinvestInU campaign earlier this year to support student-athlete services and scholarships, as well as some former players and celebrities. Through the #ReinvestInU campaign donors generously committed $521,000 as tax-deductible donations and 73% of season ticket holders contributed in some fashion, totaling $15 million into Utah Athletics to support student-athletes.
AMBIENT CROWD NOISE
A controlled crowd noise will be executed during the course of the game at a level of 75 decibels, with allowance for intermittently increased levels in the event of big plays.

KEN GARFF PERFORMANCE CENTER AT RICE-ECCLES STADIUM CONSTRUCTION
Fans watching on TV will see up close the construction progress on the Ken Garff Performance Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium—the $80 million expansion project that will enclose the south end zone, set to open in 2021. The previous south stands and the Spence Clark Football Center were demolished in August to accommodate the next phase of construction on the project, which began in early 2020. When complete, the Ken Garff Performance Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium will increase capacity to more than 51,000 and offer premium seating and club spaces. For more information and to schedule an opportunity to learn about seating options click here.
STAY SAFE WHILE YOU CHEER ON YOUR UTES
With no spectators able to be allowed in Pac-12 stadiums during the 2020 season, fans also may not tailgate or gather anywhere on campus. While we encourage our fans to passionately cheer on the Utes and engage with other fans virtually and on social media, we ask you to please adhere to appropriate health and safety guidelines to play a responsible role in curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
EINAR NIELSEN FIELD HOUSE ROOF PROJECT
The TV audience may notice that Einar Nielsen Field House, immediately north of Rice-Eccles Stadium, is undergoing a roof project that has temporarily necessitated the removal of the recognizable “UTAH” lettering. The project will be complete in several months and the display of “UTAH” will return to the field house roof. More information can be found here.
We appreciate the patience and support of all our dedicated Utah Utes supporters, especially during these challenging times when we cannot gather together to cheer on the Utes. It is our hope that 2021 will bring a return to those memorable experiences in person.
