Late Colorado Surge Sinks RSL, 3-1

Commerce City, Colo.–For 78 minutes, there were no goals, and offensive attacks were sparse.  Real Salt Lake’s red-hot Sebastian Jaime got yet another goal to get on the board.

Colorado’s offense likewise got started and equalized the score in the 81st minute via a Drew Moor goal.  Following the goal on a set piece, Sebastian Jaime received a straight red card for landing a punch on Drew Moor.

RSL held the score even through persistent attacks until 90 minutes were complete, but Colorado wasn’t done in 5 minutes of stoppage time.  Jared Watts put the Rapids up 2-1 in the 91st minute.  RSL became desperate to tie the score again, sending goalkeeper Jeff Attinella into the offensive end.  Colorado cleared the ball out of a set piece, and Juan Ramirez caught up to walk the ball into an empty RSL net to finish the game with a 3-1 score.

RSL’s next match will be against the LA Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium next Tuesday night, July 14th in the US Open Cup quarterfinals.  RSL’s next MLS matchup with be with the Houston Dynamo Saturday, July 18th at Rio Tinto Stadium.
