HERRIMAN—Real Salt Lake and Herriman City held a press conference and ceremony Tuesday morning for the groundbreaking of a new training complex, announced in April.

The complex is estimated around $50 million and will be located on a 42-acre plot of land in Herriman, just northeast of Mountain View Corridor near 14700 South.  The franchise is expected to open the facility in 2018.  It will include indoor and outdoor soccer fields, as well as an academy and an option for a STEM charter school.

RSL owner Dell Loy Hansen and general manager Craig Waibel were among several front office and Herriman City staff members that spoke at the gathering.  RSL players Jordan Allen and Justen Glad were also available to speak to the media, having graduated from RSL’s academy.
