Real Salt Lake vs New England Revolution Preview

Real Salt Lake has been preparing this week for their upcoming match on the road against the New England Revolution in Foxborough Massachusetts on Saturday April 25th, at Gillette Stadium.

With the match approaching, RSL’s Luke Mulholland said that they are hoping to bounce back from a loss, and get win against New England.

“They went all the way to that MLS cup final last year, so you can’t give this team an easy game. They’ve got some strong forwards and international midfielders in there. So it will definitely be a battle, hopefully our players can win their battles and we can get a win on the road.”

Elias Vasquez said that practice Wednesday was intense, but they are working hard as a team, and working on their formation.

This season RSL is focusing on a different formation. Every week they are working on getting better at that formation, and the different positions for each player, as well as possessing the ball.

The team is learning to compromise with out players because of suspension and injuries, while implementing different personnel. In order to accomplish their goals, the team is improving with steady progress week to week.

“Each week we’re just looking to posses the ball better and just be positive with our first couple of passes to generate an attack and play,” said Mulholland.

It’s early in the season, but right now the team is working on getting into a rhythm and adjusting their technique while enjoying the highs of working together as a team.

“It’s very enjoyable to play on the team, theres young and lively players on the team, its a young and healthy balance of all the veteran players that are very good experienced players that take care of their bodies on and off the filed so it’s a good example to the younger guys,” said Mulholland.

In response to Mulholland, RSL’s 8th season veteran, right back defender Tony Beltran said that he has experienced the perspective of a young player and so he understands the challenges that comes with that. “I had those role models when I came into the league, so it’s important for me to do the same,” said Beltran.
