If Utah and BYU could draft one player from the other team, who would it be?

The Utes and Cougs have their strengths and weaknesses like everyone else in college football. Even Alabama has holes to fill every year. If you were able to draft one player from your rival school here locally, who would it be and why?

The Utes could really use some help at tight end. They haven’t had solid production from their tight end group since Jake Murphy left. Matt Bushman had 49 catches for BYU last year with 3 TDs and over 500 yards receiving. That was with a sub par quarterback situation. If Bushman played for the Utes my guess is he could grab 75 catches and 800 yards. Tyler Huntley could really use some help over the middle with a big target like Bushman. The Utes tight ends were scarcely used a year ago because there wasn’t enough consistency in the blocking scheme or catching the football. Remember the bowl game? There were several egregious drops by the tight ends. Matt Bushman would provide another dimension to the Utes on offense.

BYU struggled in several major spots a season ago. This year I see BYU improving in many of those areas. The offensive and defensive lines will be much improved. I like BYU’s front 7 on defense but the secondary could use some speed. That’s why the Cougs could use the services of Julian Blackmon from Utah. Blackmon has 39 tackles and 4 interceptions in his Utah career so far. He’s a supreme talent with a bright NFL future. BYU would be a game or two better overall with the services of such a talent like Julian Blackmon.
