Another Monday Evening of football. And another game that disappoints as the Colts blow out the Giants, 40-24.
Now if you’re a Colts fan, you weren’t complaining, as Andrew Luck went off, yet again, throwing for another 4 touchdowns and putting on an amazing display. I guess beggars can’t be choosers as you see Luck continue to dominate.
Maybe the real problem is having the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Two games. Two blowout losses. The first was week one to the Lions, 35-14. Now, you can file this 16 point defeat in the hopper as well, and the game didn’t even feel like it was that close.
The good news: the Giants won’t be on Monday Night Football anymore this season. In the losing effort, Eli Manning sure tried his hardest to keep the Giants relevant, throwing for 359 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. Though Manning did fumble once.
A quick start by the Colts saw them jump out to a 16-3 lead by halftime. Then another touchdown to start the third quarter bumped the lead to twenty points, before the Colts ultimately finished off the Giants. With the victory, the Colts move up to 6-3, two games in front of second place Houston. With their third consecutive loss, the Giants drop to 3-5 and find themselves three games behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
Indianapolis heads into week 10 on their bye week, while New York will be on the road vs the defending super bowl champions, Seahawks, who are coming off a narrow victory to the Raiders, 30-24. Seattle is 3-1 at home, but don’t have the same home field advantage they used to. Aside from a blowout victory to open up the season, against the Green Bay Packers, the Seahawks have either won by six points or lost by seven, like they did in week to the Cowboys.
On the flip side, the Giants are 1-3 on the road, with all games being a blowout in either a win or a loss for the G-men. A couple things are for sure. The Colts are right where they need to be before the bye week, while the Giants are trending down, doing what they can to avoid a 4 game losing streak.
