SALT LAKE CITY—Utah Football head coach Kyle Whittingham announced Thursday morning that wide-receiver Cory Butler-Byrd has been suspended indefinitely from the team.
Butler-Byrd will retain his scholarship, but will not participate in team activities. ““Cory is dealing with personal issues and has been suspended from our team indefinitely,” Whittingham said.
Butler-Byrd was slated to be one of the Utes’ top offensive threats this season. The senior was placed full-time on Utah’s offense after splitting time between receiver and cornerback last season. He caught one 54-yard touchdown pass against California.
Utah Football begins fall camp today in preparation for the 2016 season beginning on September 1 against Southern Utah.
