Sean O’Connell is a longtime sports talk radio host, play-by-play broadcaster, show host, and writer with a demonstrated history of creativity and success in various markets. “OC” as he is commonly known, has enjoyed sixteen successful years of talking sports in his home market of Salt Lake City in addition to a midday stop in San Francisco. For the last seven years, he has hosted shows on SiriusXM airwaves covering combat sports and working alongside NFL veteran Geoff Schwartz in afternoon drive as host of “Pac-12 Today”. From the beginning of his days as a radio talent, O’Connell balanced a career as a professional mixed martial arts fighter alongside his broadcasting pursuits. Known for an exciting fight style and viral weigh-in antics, O’Connell was the recipient of multiple Fight of the Night bonuses in the UFC before capping his career with a one-million-dollar championship in the Professional Fighters League’s inaugural light-heavyweight season. OC retired on the spot and became the first MMA champion to transition from competitor to lead play-by-play man. He has been the face and voice of PFL broadcasts on ESPN ever since. In addition to his radio and television hosting duties, Sean has established himself as a regular columnist for KSL Sports in Salt Lake City.
When he is not on-air Sean O’Connell can be found exploring his wide-ranging passions for family, travel, comedy, food, wildlife, and writing. His first two novels are available on Amazon.com, with a third expected in early 2025.
