Devon Daniels and JoJo Zamora have both announced that they will transfer from the University of Utah.
SALT LAKE CITY– The Utah Utes Basketball program announced Friday afternoon that freshman Devon Daniels and junior JoJo Zamora will not be returning to the program for the 2017-18 season.
“There are certain responsibilities and expectations that are critical in being a member of our program,” said head coach Larry Krystowiak in a statement. “We wish these young men the very best in their future endeavors.”
Daniels served a three-game suspension late in the season and averaged 9.9 ppg during the 2016-17 season. “To the Utah fans, I love and appreciate all of you so much,” said Daniels on his Twitter account. “This experience has done nothing but make me grow and I will continue to work hard to continue to grow both on and off the court. After discussions with my coaches, family and many prayers to god, I know that transferring is what’s best for me. Thank you Utes!”
Zamora, who transferred to Utah from Yuba College, played in every game this past season and averaged 6.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game for the Utes.
The Utes will now go into the off-season having to replace three key starters after the graduation of Lorenzo Bonam with the possibility of filling a fourth space if starting forward Kyle Kuzma declares for the NBA Draft.
