Jazz Fall 111-110 in Three-Hour Foul Shot Contest vs Phoenix

The Jazz lost to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena. Utah jumped out to a big first half lead. The Jazz were up by 30 in the second quarter, but saw their lead slowly evaporate as the game went on. The keyword in that last sentence was slowly.

The game took nearly three hours to complete, clocking in at 2:44. The teams shot a combined 106 free-throws in the game. Dante Exum and Rudy Gobert stood out for the Jazz in this one. Dante looked incredibly comfortable in the lane. He appeared to have no lingering hesitancy after his injury. In fact, he looked more confident in the paint than he did before getting injured. Rudy has improved his foul shooting a lot this off season.

Coach Snyder mentioned in his postgame press conference that Gobert has spent a considerable amount of time working with Alex Jensen after practice. It shows, Rudy was 11-15 from the line.

Jazz fans shouldn’t be too concerned that the team gave up a huge lead. None of the players that will be contributing heavily this season played in the second half. When the veterans were in the game the Jazz controlled things pretty well. This 111-110 loss brings Utah to 2-2 on the preseason. They’ll face the Clippers on Monday at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Jazz head coach Quin Snyder:

Jazz point guard Dante Exum (18 points, 3 assists)

Jazz center Rudy Gobert (17 points, 8 rebounds)
