Real Salt Lake continue their preseason training in Tucson, Arizona this week as they prepare to face the San Jose Earthquakes in their second friendly of the week. The week got off to a busy start with Albert Rusnak joining the team and a friendly against the New York Red Bulls on Tuesday. Omar Holness has been called-up to the Jamaican national team as they prepare to play Nick Rimando and the U.S. on Friday, Holness is expected to rejoin RSL in Portland.

After obtaining VISA approval, Rusnak has joined Real Salt Lake in Tucson and was on the bench for Tuesday’s friendly against NYRB. Although he missed the first week of training camp, which focused on fitness, Rusnak spent time doing his own fitness training with FC Lokomotiva Kosice since returning to Slovakia in early January. While he didn’t get playing time on Tuesday, Rusnak may see some time against San Jose on Friday.

Real Salt Lake GM joined Bill Riley on Wednesday to talk about Albert Rusnak’s transition.

With an 83rd minutes goal from Jordan Allen, Real Salt Lake took down NYRB on Tuesday. 22 different players saw time for the Claret and Cobalt thanks to a line change by Jeff Cassar at half-time, leaving only 9 players without time. Draft picks Reagan Dunk and Justin Schmidt saw time, as well as new-signings and MLS veterans Chad Barrett and David Horst. Monarchs players Lalo Fernandez, Nick Besler, and Daniel Haber also played.

Real Salt Lake will play the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, February 3 at 11 a.m. MT, that friendly will be available for live stream on RSL.com.
