SANDY–Real Salt Lake introduced and signed Albert Rusnák, officially a Young Designated Player, on Friday morning at a press conference at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Rusnák, 22, played the last three seasons with FC Groningen of the Netherlands. In addition to starting regularly in the attacking midfield role in league play, he also started six matches in Europa League in 2015. He started his senior professional career with Manchester City in 2013 after spending 2010-13 with their academy. In 2013 and 14, he was loaned to Oldham Athletic, Birmingham City, and SC Cambuur before signing with Groningen in December 2014. He scored the lone two goals in the KNVB Cup Final in 2015 to help his team defeat defending champion PEC Zwolle.
The Slovakian national played 16 times for the Slovakia U19 and U21 teams starting in 2011 before first appearing with the national team starting in 2013.
