Marcus Williams Drafted In Second Round By New Orleans

PHILADELPHIA—Former Utah safety Marcus Williams was selected in the NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints as the tenth pick in the second round Friday evening.

Williams elected to forego his senior year of collegiate eligibility and enter the draft as one of the top safeties in the nation. The ball hawk intercepted five passes and broke up three in 2016 on the way to a second team All-Pac-12 selection. He also forced and recovered a pair of fumbles.

In his sophomore season, Williams earned a first-team All-Pac-12 selection after starting every game for the Utes at free safety, and tallied five interceptions.

Williams is the second Ute to be selected in the draft after teammate Garett Bolles was taken #20 overall by the Denver Broncos. He is the 13th player out of Utah to be taken in the second round, and the third in the last three drafts.
