So the NBA Finals probably went the way most people thought it originally would and then especially after the Kyrie Irving injury in game 1 of the series. Now, if you went with Cleveland to win the Finals, after the Irving injury, you were either a) lying to yourself because you bet Cavs to win it all b) A Cavs fan c) picking Cleveland after they were up 2 games to 1.
Let’s put what Golden State did, in perspective! This was no flash in the pan year or a one-time wonder type of team. The Warriors are here to stay for a few years. Still a pretty young team, with a little age, i.e. Bogut and Iguodola, but still the core is a bunch of young talent.
Think about this! The Warriors won 67 games and went 16-5 in the playoffs. That right there is a top 3 season in NBA history. Only behind the 1996 and 1997 Chicago Bulls, who went 72-10 and 69-13 in their regular seasons, en route to NBA titles. Those Bulls teams lost 3 and 4 games, respectively, in the playoffs. Thus, showing their dominance, while the Warriors clearly follow next in line among total win percentage at .806.
Next year is a new year and Las Vegas already has Cleveland as the favorite at 3/1 odds, followed by 5/1 odds for the World Champion Warriors. The Thunder come in at 7/1 odds and the Bulls, with newly hired head coach, Fred Hoiberg, 10/1 odds. The Utah Jazz are 80/1 odds.
