NFLocals Week 4 – Super Bowl Champ Sealver Siliga (former Ute) Joins ESPN700 Team

The Pride of  West Jordan who has battled through immense personal, family and professional struggles is now” Living the Dream” in the NFL with the dominant franchise of the last 15 years.  Former Utah Football Co-Captain Sealver Siliga joins ESPN 700’s dominating team, he will be LIVE with TK in the Midday every Tuesday from now until whenever the Patriots season ends, through the Playoffs and maybe even another Super Bowl!  When the deal was done and made all official Sealver texted me this morning

“Yeah let’s do this!  1:30 pm ET (11:30 am MT) today.  Excited to start with you my friend!”

If you want to congratulate Sealver on joining ESPN700 or have questions hit him up on his Twitter @S_Siliga or mine @tksportstweets .

Siliga’s defending Super Bowl champion Patriots coming off their bye week, have a game lead atop the AFC East at 3-0, 2 game lead on Rex’s Boasting Bills, 3 game lead on the team that was supposed to challenge New England, (1-3) Miami.

As for the best LOCALS on-field this week?

How about former BYU Cougar Ziggy Ansah, had a “Manstah” game Monday night in Seattle. 2 sacks, (*one of ’em a very special strip-sack AND Fumble Recovery!) forced 2 fumbles actually.  Indeed a Ziggy M-Ans(t)ah Game BUT thanks to blown call, Lions fall to 0-4 Wow that hurt!

BT-dubs — Great local Detroit story on Ziggy right here!http://detroitsportsnation.com/detroit-nfl/jporter/detroit-lions-important-player-ziggy-ansah/38332/  You’re welcome #BYU friends!

Also in that Lions game former Highland High star Hiloti Ngata was a disruptive force on Detroits line. One of many Lions hurting today, Ngata’s got some sort of a calf injury. ZIggy’s teammate and BYU Defensive partner in crime remains stuck on Detroit’s bench and from the looks of it on TV Monday night, KVN’s not lovin’ life these days, NOT on the field!

On Seattle’s side former Utah State Aggie Bobby Wagner was his usual disruptive force, leading the Seahawks with 8 tackles and one very solid ESPN Post-Game appearance!

Former Ute Matt Asiata’s had a great career playing a supporting role to Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, even busting loose on his own for a couple of 3 touchdown games, Asiata’s receiving out of the backfield’s kept him in the League but this season Matt’s touches and plays are way down, causing some concern for his future with the Vikings.

Major Local player Steve Smith Sr (Former Ute star) had just 4 catches in Thursday night’s must-win for the Ravens, Smith left early with a back injury, we’ll keep on eye on his status going forward.  Two weeks ago former Utah State Aggie Will Davis joined Smith in Baltimore, Ravens trading a 7th round draft pick to Miami for Davis who’s in his 3rd NFL season, he had a tackle and a pass breakup Thursday night.

Miami’s become the NFL’s “Team Utes” 3 of them. Koa Misi 2nd on the team in tackles with 8 in the London loss to the NY Jets that cost Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin his job, Misi’s immediate boss DC Kevin Coyle (38th season in the NFL?? Might need some new blood there!)  could get fired as soon as Tuesday?  Also Sunday in London, former Ute Brice McCain 4 tackles and a pass breakup, former Utes DE Derrick Shelby active too, 2 tackles, 1 for a loss and a pass defended.

NY Giants Middle Linebacker Uani’ Unga continues to “ball out”. 2 tackles including an amazing hammer-hit denying Bills QB Tyrd Taylor a TD in the Giants win in Buffalo.

Carolina’s among the surprise teams so far at 4-0.  Former Ute Star Lotulelei right in the thick of that Panther “sauce”.  Recovered a fumble in the Panthers 37-23 romp in Tampa.

Everybody knows Chip Kelly’s Eagles are struggling at 1-3 but rookie DB Eric Rowe’s not! The Former Ute in on 6 tackles and had a pass breakup but Philly lost 23-20 in Washington.

Former Ute All-Time star QB Alex Smith struggling as his Chiefs fall to 1-3 to start the season, catching lots of heat.  Smith 31-45 for 386 yards bugt zero TDs, though he did boast a QB rating of 95!   Fellow former Ute Sean Smith, just back from a 3 game NFL Drug Policy suspension had 4 tackles and a pass breakup. Former BYU Cougar Daniel Sorenson getting some run in KC, had a tackle.

Cleveland’s former Ute’s not doing much.  Paul Kruger had 3 tackles, rookie Nate Orchard in on 1 as the Browns fall to 1-3 with the 30-27 loss in San Diego where Eric Weddle continues to grind with no contract past this season…2nd on the team Sunday with 11 tackles and a half a sack!
