Raiders Officially Moving To Las Vegas

ALAMEDA, Calif.–National Football League owners approved the Oakland Raiders to move to Las Vegas.

The league voted 31-1 Monday afternoon, the Miami Dolphins being the only dissenter. The move will not happen before 2019, and therefore the team will keep the Oakland Raiders moniker until they officially relocate.

“The Raiders were born in Oakland and Oakland will always be a part of our DNA,” said owner Mark Davis in a statement. “We know that some fans will be disappointed and even angry, but we hope that they do not direct that frustration to the players, coaches and staff.”  Davis added he would like the team to stay in Oakland until the stadium in Las Vegas is complete.

The $1.9 billion stadium will be built in Paradise, Nevada, in the heart of the Las Vegas metropolitan area, a six-hour drive south of Salt Lake City, bringing the NFL within a brief weekend’s trip of football fans in Utah.

Zakariah Slenderbroek, of 95.7 The Game in San Francisco, California, joined OC & Hackett to discuss what happens next for the Raiders and fans.
