In what some basketball officials are calling “a rating disaster,” viewership for this year’s NBA Finals continues dropping to record lows.
Only 9.6 million viewers tuned in for Game 5, marking a 49 percent drop compared to 2019’s Game 5, according to SportsMediaWatch. It’s now overtaken Game 1, which drew 5 million fewer fans than its 2019 predecessor, as the lowest-rated match of the series.
Ratings are down across the board, with Game 2 and Game 3 recording 30 percent drops in viewership, per SportsMediaWatch.
The NBA Finals has gained some, but not all, of its audience back after last year's trip to the pandemic bubble.https://t.co/mRvh2es6uv
