The Utah Jazz made busy work of picks in the 50’s during the NBA Draft. After trading up to take Jarrell Brantley with the 50th pick, taking Justin Wright-Foreman with the 53rd pick, they acquired the 58th pick from the Golden State Warriors and drafted Yale’s Miye Oni.
Oni averaged 17 points, six rebounds and three assists as a Junior at Yale.
Oni brings an NBA body who can knock down open threes, shooting 37% from deep as a Junior. In addition to shooting, Oni can attack off the dribble, finding passing options off the dribble.
Like Brantley and Wright-Foreman, Oni played against lesser competition at Yale, and will have to adjust to playing against significantly better talent at the NBA level, but as a Junior, won’t be an enormous project.
