Jazz enter important stretch without Donovan Mitchell

The Utah Jazz enter a tough weekend against the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets with out their leading scorer Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell left the Jazz road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves late in the fourth quarter with hamstring tightness, he was reevaluated Thursday, and will be held out at least against Memphis.

The Jazz struggled to score in their last home game, coincidentally against the same Grizzlies team, and will have to find a new shot creator against Memphis. Alec Burks is also out for tonight’s game, so the Jazz may turn to rookie Grayson Allen, who was one of the few bright spots in the 92-84 loss last week.

Derrick Favors and Jae Crowder are probable, and Crowder was an effective scorer off the bench on Wednesday night, but Favors has had a sluggish start to the season, as he appears to be dealing with a lack of health.

If Mitchell can’t return this weekend, the Jazz will play again Monday night in Salt Lake against the red hot Toronto Raptors.
