NCAA Grants 10th Asst Coach–Should Utah Get A Full-Time Recruiter?

What will the Utes do with the ability to hire a tenth full-time assistant football coach?

The NCAA granted a proposed rule granting college football coaching staffs to add a tenth member in the upcoming season.

Utah currently has eight assistant coaches:

Off. Coord/QBs – Troy Taylor
Off. Line/Asst HC – Jim Harding
Wide Receivers – Guy Holliday
Tight Ends – Fred Whittingham, Jr.

Def. Coord/Safeties – Morgan Scalley
Def. Line – Lewis Powell
Linebackers – Justin Ena
Cornerbacks – Sharrieff Shah

The Utes still need to hire a running back coach after the retirement of Dennis Erickson. At that point, they’ll still have the ability to hire a tenth full-time assistant coach.  What they’ll do with that position is still up for debate.  Sean O’Connell and Brian Swinney discussed the idea of hiring a full-time recruiter.
