NYCFC want to sign Albert Rusnak before 2018 season

Yes, you read that correctly. ESPN is reporting that Patrick Vieira is keen to sign Real Salt Lake’s playmaker Albert Rusnak.

Vieira worked with Rusnak when they were both a part of the Manchester City’s elite developmental squad. Unfortunately for Rusnak, things did not work out for him at City as he was shortly loaned out to Oldham, Birmingham and, Cambuur before eventually being sold in 2015 to Dutch club Groningen.

Rusnak is one of Real Salt Lake’s 3 designated players while NYCFC has 3 of their own designated player’s. Therefore, for Vieira to make a successful trade, he would need to buy down the rest of Rusnak’s salary with targeted allocation money.

At the end of the day, the chances of this trade occurring are incredibly slim. Rusnak has settled in with his new teammates nicely, he has seemingly enjoyed his time spent in Salt Lake City and (let’s be honest) Craig Waibel is not letting Rusnak leave this close to the season starting. Rusnak’s role for RSL is monumental, he is the playmaker, the center-attacking midfielder, he has the luxury of facilitating his teammates or taking on the defense by himself.

Don’t panic RSL fans, this trade will not happen.
