Kyle Whittingham was very high on the secondary for the Utes this year, saying it may be the best he’s ever coached. Coach mentioned that the offense is light years ahead of where they were a year ago and that Tyler Huntley has gained weight to better deal with the rigors of the season. Still no official word on potential BYU transfer LB Francis Bernard.

Herm Edwards gave us by far the strangest interview of the day. He seemed to be at a loss for what the actual scheme and identity of the ASU offense will be. He never mentioned his offensive line for example. Instead Edwards appeared content to mentor his team on the bigger concepts of life off the field. All that is nice if it accompanies winning, if not then your players will turn a blind eye to your message. It felt like Edwards was trying too much to be intimidating which only works for a short while with the young men he will be coaching. I get the sense that unless there are tangible answers to the issues that will inevitably arise during the season, his players will lose interest in the cliches and coach speak.
