American goalkeeper Alex Horwath has joined Real Salt Lake. In 2005 he attended the University of Connecticut but transferred to the University of Wisconsin in 2007, establishing himself as the starter, making 52 appearances. At the end of his college career, Horwath was signed to an MLS contract, training with the Kansas City Wizards, playing for the San Jose Earthquakes, and Seattle Sounders before agreeing to terms with New York Red Bulls in 2011. Horwath spent some time in the USL before joining Ljungskile SK in Sweden 2014. In 2015 he signed with SK Brann in Norway until signing for Real Salt Lake in February 2018.
Throughout his professional career, he has 37 shutouts in 106 appearances.
