Real Salt Lake adds talented Croatian midfielder Damir Kreilach

Real Salt Lake will never stop, apparently. Samir Kreilach, 28, is the latest addition to the RSL roster. Kreilach was purchased using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) ahead of the 2018 season. He will take up one of the international roster spots and will hopefully join the team shortly, pending the visa application process.

Kreilach has been playing professional football since 2007 where he made 128 appearances for Rijeka, a Croatian first division club. In 2013 he made the move to German second division team Union Berlin where he made 149 appearances and acted as a co-captain.

Kreilach will push for immediate playing time and will be competing with the likes of Mulholland and Sunny in particular. Kreilach however, is also an attacking threat, in the YouTube video below you will see a variety of goals from free-kicks to headers to beating the keeper one on one.

Craig Waibel, RSL GM and the mastermind behind the offseason signings, described Kreilach as a “good person.” He continued to state that “he’s got a ton of experience and challenges our depth immediately. He brings talent, he brings leadership.”
