Real Salt Lake kicked off their 2018 season in Dallas on Saturday. Shawn Barry and Damir Kreilach impressed in their MLS debuts, the only changes to the lineup from last year. A refreshed, and dread-less, Kyle Beckerman was able to sit back in front of the defense while Kreilach and Rusnak pushed up and got looks at goal. Joao Plata opened up the scoring in the 25th minute and Real Salt Lake was able to hold off Dallas for the next 61 minutes until Max Urruti put one off RSL’s Marcelo Silva and into the net. While Real Salt Lake had the better opportunities of the game, it wasn’t enough to get all 3 points in Dallas and they head home to face LAFC for the first time with 1 point.
