Real Salt Lake to host LAFC in U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round

The fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup has finally been set and RSL will face LAFC.  The match is set for an 8 PM kick Tuesday, June 11 at Rio Tinto Stadium.  The 2017 and 2018 Open Cup campaigns were short-lived for Real, with losses to Sacramento Republic (4-1) and Sporting Kansas City (0-2) respectively.  RSL has an all-time record of 11-13-3 in the Open Cup and hasn’t made it out of the fourth round since 2016 when they defeated Wilmington Hammerheads on penalty kicks then lost to Seattle Sounders in the round of 16 on penalty kicks.  The most successful Open Cup run came in 2013 when RSL made it to the final against D.C. United but fell 1-0.

Real Salt Lake is 1-3-0 against LAFC all-time, the lone win coming in the knockout stage of the 2018 MLS Cup at Banc of California Stadium.  The June 11th match will be the second of now three meetings of the season between RSL and LAFC,  Real fell 2-1 at LAFC on March 23 and will host LAFC again on August 17 at 8 PM.
