RSL From 1-5 in home opener to 4-1 in finale

Real Salt Lake sets up well for Sunday’s finale.

Did Real Salt Lake’s young core imagine they’d end up scoring crucial goals in November? Was this their dream?

RSL’s homegrown talent contributed to three goals in the club’s 4-1 win against New England Revolution. 22-year-old Corey Baird assisted on the first and clinically finished on the third, and 21-year-old Bofo Saucedo tallied on the second. Shorthanded? No, just another opportunity for the Claret-and-Cobalt to show their promise.

Five RSL regulars were unavailable due to suspension and international duty. It didn’t factor into the result. New England’s head coach Brad Friedel called his team’s effort “pathetic” at halftime.

A win in Portland Sunday punches RSL’s ticket to the playoffs. It’s all going according to plan.
