Real Salt Lake has announced the signing of Liberian forward Sam Johnson from Vålerenga in Norway’s first division. The announcement comes just a month before the 2019 season is set to begin in Houston.

Johnson scored six goals in eleven appearances for Wuhan Zall before joining Valerenga for the 2018 season, where he scored eleven goals in twenty-one appearances.
Johnson also played with the Liberian U-23 National Team in 2011, scoring six goals in eight appearances. In 2015 he made his debut with the Liberian National Team. Johnson has two goals in eleven appearances for the Lone Stars.
