Six RSL Players Called Up to International Duty, Will Miss Open Cup Match

Real Salt Lake returns to action on Tuesday, June 11 in the Open Cup when they will host LAFC but they’ll be missing some key pieces to the squad due to additional international duty.  Aaron Herrera (fourteen 2019 starts with RSL), Justen Glad (eight starts), Sebastian Saucedo (six starts, 2G, 2A), and Brooks Lennon (eight starts) have been called up to the U.S. U-23 squad and will train with the team in Utah June 9-16.

In addition to the four U-23 players, Real Salt Lake will also be missing Albert Rusnak (Slovakia) and Jefferson Savarino (Venezuela) who reported to their respective national teams after RSL’s match at New York Red Bulls.  Rusnak has started thirteen matches for Real Salt Lake in 2019 and leads the team with five goals and two assists while Jefferson Savarino has three goals and one assist in his thirteen starts.  Slovakia has two matches during the international window, they won their first match 5-1 against Jordan on June 6 and their second is a UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying match at Azerbaijan on June 11.  Venezuela will face the U.S. on Sunday, June 9th before the 2019 Copa America begins on Friday, June 13 in Brazil.  Venezuela will face Peru on Saturday, June 15 in their first group stage match, Brazil on Tuesday, June 18, and Bolivia on Saturday, June 22.  The tournament goes through July 7th.
