Stallions to stampede into Salt Lake City in 2019

Set to kickoff in February of 2019, the Salt Lake Stallions are the newest pro football team to test the waters in Utah.

Led by former NCAA champion and University of Utah assistant Dennis Erickson, the Stallions begin play in the Alliance of American Football’s inaugural season. The mascot and team color schemes were unveiled this morning.

“The name ‘Stallions’ honors the spirit of the region and the rumbling presence of horsepower, inspired by Utah’s famed Bonneville Salt Flats, where world land speed records have have been set and broken for decades,” Erickson said in a press release.

The Stallions blue and silver color scheme is themed towards the blue skies above the Great Salt Lake as well as the silver granite that sits atop the mighty Wasatch Front.

Team rosters will be built primarily on a regional basis, meaning that you’ll get to see your favorite Utes, Cougars, Aggies, etc. of the past take the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium in coming years.

Salt Lake will join the likes of the Arizona Hotshots, San Antonio Commanders and San Diego Fleet in the Western Conference while the Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Orlando Apollos and Atlanta Legends will play in the Eastern Conference.
