The Major League Baseball season continues to push along and divisional races continue to change. The Minnesota Twins are now atop the American League Central Division as they are tied with the Kansas City Royals, as both clubs are 28-18 on the season.
The Minnesota Twins have won 5 straight and have won 9 out of their last 11 games. They begin a 3-game series tonight at Target Field against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Kansas City Royals will look to snap their 4-game losing streak, which includes being swept by the AL East leading New York Yankees, as they begin a 3-game series this afternoon against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. This just shows you how things can change in a hurry when one team gets hot and another one takes a bit of a slide. The Twins are 18-6 in the month of May as they are coming off of a sweep of the Boston Red Sox.
The American League East continues to be a tight race as 3.5 games separate the New York Yankees (25-23) and last place Toronto Blue Jays (22-27). The AL East should remain tight throughout the season. There really is not a dominate team that wants to take a stronghold of the division. Obviously this can change if some team gets on a hot streak in the next week or two.
The St. Louis Cardinals remain the best team in the Majors as they are 31-16 on the season. They open up what should be a great matchup tonight against the NL West leading Los Angeles Dodgers in St. Louis, as the two teams will play a 3-game series this weekend.
Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals continues to be outstanding as he is hitting .331 with a MLB leading 18 homeruns and 43 RBIs. Both he and Mike Trout of the Angels are 2 of the best players to watch in Major League Baseball right. They both play hard and just play the game right.
This will be another great weekend in Major League Baseball as there should be some great baseball to be played. Enjoy the games!
