Utah Camp Notes — Day 14

The offense saw some success in the second-to-last day of Utah fall camp.

The biggest news of the day was Kyle Whittingham’s announcement of junior quarterback Brandon Cox transferring from the team.  That news and breakdown can be found here.

Outside of that, we saw a decent amount of offensive success in high- and lower-percentage plays.  Joe Williams caught a screen to the left and ran for a first down-plus.  Tight end Wallace Gonzalez made a contested catch and ran for a chunk down the right sideline.  Kyle Whittingham has mentioned Gonzalez as playing at a higher level lately, and that was finally an example that we saw.

The offense found ways to find its best yardage in play-action, with the offensive line getting a strong push.  The pass-catchers had a strong day over all in yards-after-catch.

The Utes will finish up fall camp tomorrow at the Eccles Football Facility before turning their full attention to Southern Utah coming up on Monday.
