Utah Football Day 1 Recap

The Utes were back at it for the first time since April as they opened up fall camp. Not a lot to draw from 20 minutes or so of watching practice, but here are a few observations:
Some of these freshmen are absolute monsters and physically look ready to play. Super impressed with the size of Fotu (looks like a 30 year old NFL player), Anae, Tupai, and Moss). Samson Nacua is thin, but is very tall and has a good frame.
Of the limited reps we saw Utah throw it, Williams was the best. Huntley played with a little fear and I saw a little hiccup in his motion on two throws. Something to watch for. Also fumbled an exchange with a RB and was picked off by Hughes on the next play. Cox is the same old Cox, floating balls and trying to put touch on everything. He completed one deep ball that the receiver made a good play on, but it was against a walk on CB and backup safety. Against other schools in a game, that’s a pick. Williams had some nifty escapes in the pocket getting away from defenders.
Alec Dana is a big kid. Looks 6-4 ish with a big body. Didn’t see him take reps until very late though.
Tim Patrick looks about 100% and moving well.
Offensive line first team was the same as the depth chart.
Moss was really impressive today at running back. Moves well and is shiftier than expected. Caught the ball and looks ready to play.
Luafatasaga is an impressive specimen. Arms are much longer than I anticipated. If he bulks up a bit, could turn into a defensive end.
