The Utes fell short in their PAC-12 Championship debut, as Washington claimed the conference title, and will move on to face a Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl.
The Utes offense, without starters Tyler Huntley and Zach Moss managed to score just 3 points, and the Utes fell 10-3. Washington’s offense also scored just three points, but a pick six by Byron Murphy off a dropped ball by Siaosi Wilson made the difference in the game.
The Utes played the majority of the second half without their most reliable offensive weapon in Britain Covey who appeared to hurt his knee on a kick return. Cover was in pads, but was wearing a knee brace and on crutches to finish the game.
The Utes now await their bowl destination, likely either the Alamo Bowl or Holiday Bowl, where Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan is campaigning to have the Utes land according to ESPN 700’s Bill Riley.
