Utes 2019 recruiting class could get even better

Utes will petition for immediate eligibility of 4-star quarterback.

But will it rise this fall? Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham appeared on the Pac-12 Network to discuss his signing day coup, which included four 4-star recruits. In it, the head coach said the Utes will petition for immediate eligibility for incoming Texas transfer Cam Rising.

“Worst case scenario is he’d have to sit this fall and then have three years left,” Whittingham explained.

Ohio State and Miami applied for similar waivers earlier this year for Justin Fields and Tate Martell.

As it stands, Utah has three scholarship quarterbacks with Tyler Huntley, Jason Shelley, and Drew Lisk. The Utes will add Carter Robinson (Appleton North, Wisconsin) as a preferred walk-on.

“But Bad Moon is a great addition to our team, and we’re excited to have him,” Whittingham said.
