Francis Bernard will transfer to Utah and be eligible immediately after sitting out the 2017 season for BYU.

Bernard won’t start right away but at some point in 2018 I think he will. The ex-BYU linebacker is an amazing athlete with great toughness looking for a second chance. In his first season playing on the defensive side of the ball for BYU he had a phenomenal year, recording 80 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 interceptions and 3 PBUs. His best performance in 2016 came against an SEC team in Mississippi state where he recorded 16 tackles and a TFL.
Utah’s linebacker group could use more experience in 2018. Chase Hansen and Cody Barton will begin the season as the starters but I believe Francis Bernard’s skill set will force him into heavy playing time by season’s end.
