Jazz Announce Exum Will Not Participate With Australian Team

The Utah Jazz announced that point guard Danté Exum will not compete in the 2016 Australian National Team summer activities, including the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

Exum tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on August 4th, 2015, 2015, while competing for Australia in a game against Slovenia. He underwent surgery to repair the injury on September 3rd. After missing the entire 2015-16 NBA season, Exum was recently cleared for full basketball activities.

“At this stage the most important thing for me right now is to continue training,” said Exum per a Jazz press release. “It’s been great to be back on the court competing, and I’m really motivated to help the Jazz have a successful season this year. My support and best wishes will be with the Boomers this summer, and I look forward to future opportunities to represent my home country.”

Exum averaged 4.8 points per game in his rookie season (2014-15) for the Jazz, as well as 2.2 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 22.2 minutes.
