The Utah Jazz Hit The Road For 4 Games This Week

The Utah Jazz (4-2) held practice today before hitting the road for 4 straight games on Tuesday.  First up for the Jazz will be the Cleveland Cavaliers (6-1) at 5:00 PM on Tuesday.  The Jazz come into the game winners of their last two games after getting by the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.  They are currently first place in the Northwest Division, a half game up over 3 other teams.  The Cavaliers have won 6 straight games after their opening night loss to the Bulls.

The Jazz have had great contributions off the bench from Trey Burke and Alec Burks so far this season.  Trey has found his outside shot, as he is hitting 50% of his shots behind the 3-point line.  His shooting has sparked the team’s offense.  It has been good to see him play well this season.  He definitely helps out the second unit.

Gordon Hayward is leading the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game.  Hayward is shooting 41.6% on the season.  His percentage is slowly improving over the first 6 games.  Despite his slow start on offense this season, he continues to be the team leader and helps the team be successful in other ways.  Gordon Hayward met with the media after practice.  Here is the audio:

As far as other team leaders, Rodney Hood is the assist leader at 3.0 assists per game.  Rudy Gobert continues to show his presence on defense as he is blocking 4 shots a game and grabbing 12.7 boards a game.  Gobert gives the Jazz players confidence on the defensive side of the ball.  The Jazz have the NBA-best scoring defense at 85.0 points allowed per game.  They have to stay aggressive defensively as their offense continues to develop.  Here is Rudy Gobert with the media after practice:

The Jazz are dead last in the NBA at 16.5 assists per game.  Due to their slower pace on offense they are 27th in the NBA at scoring at 93.3 points per game.  It would be good to get that up closer to 100 points per game, but it may not get up that high.  If their defense stays impressive, it may not need to.

Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder talked with the media after practice.  Here is that audio:

This week will be a real test for the Jazz as they head out on their 4-game Eastern Conference road trip.  When they wrap up the trip on Sunday in Atlanta against the Hawks, 8 of the first 10 games for the Jazz will have been played on the road.
