The Utah Jazz (33-41) returned to practice today after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves (16-58) on Monday in Minneapolis 104-84. The Jazz will return to action on Wednesday when they go up against the Denver Nuggets (28-46) at EnergySolutions Arena at 7:00 PM. The Nuggets come into the game losers of 5 out of their last 7 games including their game on Saturday when they lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 120-114. However, the Jazz and Nuggets met up last Friday when Denver beat the Jazz 107-91 at the Pepsi Center. Since that loss, the Jazz have won 2 straight games as well as returned to playing better defensively as they only allowed an average of 86.5 points per game in their 2 wins.
Derrick Favors missed his second straight game on Monday with back spasms and Rodney Hood left Monday’s game with concussion-like symptoms after receiving an elbow to the head. Hood has been diagnosed with a concussion and will now begin the NBA’s Return-to-Participation Exertion Protocol. Favors is listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s game. In Monday’s win Gordon Hayward led the way with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Trevor Booker added 17 points and 13 rebounds in place of the injured Derrick Favors. Trey Burke scored 19 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and handed out 3 assists off the bench. Rudy Gobert finished with a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds. Gobert also had 3 blocked shots and is averaging 2.31 blocks per game. He has a total of 171 blocks on the season, which is 2 behind Anthony Davis’ league-leading 173.
