Utah Jazz Practice Report

The Utah Jazz (5-5) returned to practice today after their 4-game road trip in which they went 1-3.  The Jazz will take on the Toronto Raptors (7-4) tomorrow night at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.  The Raptors will be coming into Salt Lake City on a back-to-back as they are taking on the Golden State Warriors tonight at 8:30 PM.  Wednesday night will be Utah’s third home game of the season.

The Jazz are currently tied for second in the Northwest Division a half game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.  The Jazz are currently third in the NBA in scoring defense as they are now allowing 91.8 points per game.  They are averaging 95.5 points per game, which is 28th overall in the NBA.

Here is Utah Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder with the media following practice today:

Alec Burks is leading the team in scoring at 16.2 points per game.  He is doing a great job off the bench for the team as he is averaging 28.1 minutes a game.  The way the Jazz’ offense is going right now it will be interesting to see if they will ever have a layer average over 20 points a game this season.  The Jazz have 5 players averaging double figures including Alec Burks, Derrick Favors (15.8), Gordon Hayward (15.7), Rodney Hood (13.0), and Trey Burke (12.6).  Rudy Gobert could get there as well in a few games as he is at 9.0 points per game.  If he does getting to a double digit scoring average he will most likely be averaging a double-double as he is currently averaging 11.8 rebounds a game.  Gobert made his return on Sunday after missing the 2 previous games due to injury.  His defensive presence was felt.  He is definitely the main part of Utah’s defense.  He leads the team in blocked shots at 3.4 blocks a game.

Derrick Favors continues to be one of the team leaders this year.  He caught up with the media after practice.  Here is that audio:

Trevor Booker met with the media after practice today as well.  Here is that audio:
