Utah Jazz Rally Comes Up Short Against the Pacers

The Utah Jazz fall to 12-23 on the season after losing to the Indiana Pacers (14-22) on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena 105-101. The Jazz trailed by as many as 19 points in the game before cutting the score to a 3-point deficit in the 4th quarter. The Jazz played with only 10 players as 5 players were out due to injuries or illness.

Dante Exum made his first career start in place of Trey Burke who missed the game due to strep throat. Exum finished the night with a career high in points with 13 points on 5-14 shooting and 3-9 behind the 3-point line. Here is Exum with the media following the loss:

Gordon Hayward scores 24 points and grabs 7 rebounds in the game and gave his thoughts on the game to the media:

Joe Ingles was given the start again on Monday and played well on both sides of the ball as he grabbed 9 rebounds, handed out 7 assists, and scored 8 points. He also met with the media following the game. Here is that audio:

It was impressive to see how the Jazz fought back in this game. They never gave up and almost sent the game to overtime at the end of regulation. Elijah Millsap made his NBA debut for the Jazz as he played the most minutes of any bench player on Monday with just over 18 minutes on the court. He scored 2 points, had 5 rebounds, and handed out 4 assists. He hustled while he was on the floor. He wants to stay in the NBA and his performance tonight was a good on. Derrick Favors had another solid night as he led the Jazz in scoring with 27 points and rebounds with 11.

Utah Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder was obviously disappointed with the loss but was pleased with the effort of his team. Here is the postgame audio from his press conference with the media:

The Utah Jazz begin a 3-game road trip on Wednesday as they travel to Chicago to take on the Bulls at 6:00 PM.
