Utah athletic director Chris Hill held a media roundtable discussion today at the University of Utah. Headlining the day was the announcement of an upgrade coming to the video and scoreboard at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
The current four-screen LED system was installed in 2006. The “steel cloud” support system was removed as part of a $6 million renovation in 2014 that also included a new sound system.
The new video project will be $4 million and is part of Utah’s new multimedia rights and marketing agreement with Learfield.
Salt Lake Tribune Utah Utes beat writer Kyle Goon tweeted the project could be completed as soon as next basketball season.
Hill said the deal being finalized with Learfield will pay for half of the scoreboard project. Could be installed as soon as next season.
